The "NIA VVF - Investigations", provides a useful reference, with respect to the investigations to be carried out in case of fire and explosion, as described in NFPA 921 "Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations".
The use of a smartphone, allows already from the early stages of intervention, the collection and recording of data for subsequent investigation phases.
The application totally free, contains a guideline on the list of investigative activities to be performed in case of fire, as well as the indication sequential order with which those activities must be performed. The App during first startup, provides the ability to create specific workbooks, each identified by a short name, a notes field to describe the investigation and the location of the fire scenario. The latter can be acquired through the smartphone's GPS function.
For each workbook, the App captures investigative data, through the activation of specific functions, such as:
1. Camera function: activates the smartphone's camera to do a photographic survey of the intervention stage;
2. Video function: activates the smartphone's camera to video mode to run a video survey of the intervention stage;
3. Audio function: activates the microphone of your smartphone for audio recording supporting service records, collection of evidence, etc .;
4. PDF function enables the search and file download in pdf format contained in the archive of the smartphone (possibly acquired through other applications such as E-mail, WhatsApp, or whatever).
The App stores your media files within individual workbooks, for their consultation as well as the addition of further documentation during the course of investigation activities.
It also noted that some smartphone models may require the free application installation "ES File Explorer", downloadable from the play store for browsing the archive of the files stored in the smartphone.
