About Plaque d'immatriculation Maroc

The license plate is a device Moroccan permits identification of vehicles registered in Morocco.
The plate consists of five digits (1 to 99,999) designating the vehicle registration number, a letter of the Arabic alphabet in the middle incremented against the registration number and the ID of the Prefecture the emission plate (from 1 to 88).

License plates in Morocco have changed their style at the beginning of 2000.
This is now the third "generation" plates; the change is due to inadequate and saturation of the old system (#### - ## | #) because the latter figure consisted entire region (mainly the plates were then differentiated according to 8 regions that had cutting).

The new system contains letters (Arab) and numbers.
The plates are now the style ##### | A | ##. They have a white background and the letters are black.
The backside plates must be a little wider.

When the series of a letter are exhausted, we move to the next letter of the Arabic alphabet.

The third part of the plate is composed of a number of one or two numbers which symbolize this time not the regions of the kingdom, but its prefectures and provinces.

Cars sold after 1 January 2000 will carry the new plates. It is the same for cars that change hands from the same date and for vehicles that wish to switch to the new system.
