We follow in the footsteps of the citizens of Gdańsk, who for centuries have donated and financially supported the Gdańsk Library, thanks to which we managed to collect a book collection of over a million items. Reserve two hours or more, as you'll be able to drink coffee or eat lunch along the way. The game was created especially for the 425th birthday of the PAN of the Gdańsk Library, let's play!
The route of the game runs through Śródmieście - from Stary Przedmieście to the Old Town, is 6.5 km long and has 21 stops. Comfortable shoes and a mobile phone with Internet access will be needed. The game scenario was written by a team of joint forces: Gdańsk Museum - Marta Krzyżowska and the Polish Academy of Sciences Of the Gdańsk Library - Maria Michalska and Joanna Śliwa.
- From the day of its establishment, the Gdańsk Library is inextricably linked with the city and its inhabitants. Therefore, it is natural that the subject of the city game will be the old and also not so distant Gdańsk residents, thanks to which our library could develop. These 425 years are the time when residents gained immortality through donations to the library - says Dr. Maria Michalska, who works in the Special Collections Department (old prints). - I would like to add that the character selection was not easy. There are still many characters in our history that are worth getting to know better.

Who were Daniel Gralath and the Czirenberg family for the Gdańsk Library? What connects Lodge Eugenia with the only original Masonic library in Central and Eastern Europe? - We know that some of the donors are a bit forgotten today, but we hope that the city game will remind them. And we hope that our game will bring a lot of joy and encourage you to explore Gdańsk, its material and non-material history together with your loved ones or friends, adds Dr. Maria Michalska.
The start was set in the place where the first seat of the Gdańsk Library was located - in front of the National Museum at ul. Toruńska, and the finish line on the Marian Pelczar bench - in front of the current seat at ul. Wałowa.
