The main role of the National Office of Tunisian Handicrafts is to implement the State strategy in terms of safeguarding and developing the Tunisian handicrafts sector, in particular:
Supervision of the sector by the establishment of regional structures which assist craftsmen and craft businesses on technical and administrative levels,
The development of professional skills of human resources in the craft sector,
The promotion of Tunisian crafts as well as the promotion of the marketing of craft products on the national and international markets and the facilitation of the adaptation of craft businesses to market requirements, new information and communication technologies and international competition,
Promotion of investment and support for job creation in the craft sector,
The promotion of innovation and creativity and the development of policies for the safeguard and preservation of the artisanal heritage,
Promotion and improvement of quality by setting up a standardization and certification system and technical control of the quality of craft products intended for the local market and for export,
The development of international cooperation with a view to implementing programs which contribute to the development of the sector,
Participation in the design and development of infrastructure to support the development of crafts such as craft villages in all governorates,
Drawing up development programs for the craft sector and carrying out all studies relating to the craft sector.
