BookYou is a platform that allows individuals to buy and sell their time with a guarantee of meeting each other, using message threads as a substitute for contracts, and using escrow payments as a form of provisional payment.
“Booking” which consists of:
1.The date and time when users meet Online (via video chat) or Location (using GPS)
2. The content agreed upon by users through messaging
All users can be both a Booker (buyer) and a Cast (seller), and they can use the service in either position with each Booking.
When both parties are ready, the Booking starts. If the Cast is late, Booker can cancel the Booking for free. At the end of the Booking, the prepaid reward is transferred to the Cast.
After the Booking is done, the message thread used to determine the Booking content can be either flagged as Positive or Negative by the Booker and made public or private. If a Negative thread is made public, the Cast can refund in percentage units of the reward amount. If a full refund is made, the thread will automatically be closed. All actions by both parties are recorded on the thread in chronological order and are viewable by other users while it is public.
All Bookings are time-based and are charged once the Booking time is up after the session is started and both parties are met.
If the users make an illegal request, it can be difficult to publicly claim or request a refund since leaving evidence of their illegal behavior on the platform. Illegal requests make only risk for buyers on the platform.
The platform offers services at nominal fees, with no charges for buying points or internal transactions. However, a 5% fee is charged on point exchange, and bank transfer fees are separate. Points expire after six months.
For online bookings, there is a video communication fee of USD 0.01/minute that is charged when the points are redeemed.
Users can search for a Cast that fits their preferences using various conditions and can view public threads for higher transparency in evaluating the Cast. Users can enter the time, place, Booking description, and reward on the Cast’s availability from their calendar and send a Booking request. Once the details of the Booking have been determined through messaging, the Booking is confirmed by the Cast pressing the Booking request approval button on the thread.
