VoisIT by iSolveIT is the first ever mobile app to offer speech-to-text (ASR) service for Faroese.
Just press the button to record your voice. Then press again to let the model turn your speech into text. Currently, the app uses publically available APIs, and the models will require a few seconds to load, when you record the first voice message.
Current languages include Faroese and English, and both ASR models are served through Huggingface's APIs.
The app is based upon the dataset from the project "Ravnur" (https://maltokni.fo/) and "Ravnursson" dataset (http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12537/276) and resulting models hosted on huggingface's APIs, trained at the University of Reykjavík, Iceland in 2022.
