1867 January 5 (solar calendar February 9, 2009) was born in Edo Ushigome Babashita alley. His real name is Kin'nosuke Natsume. After graduating from the Imperial University liberal arts college (University of Tokyo Faculty of Letters), through Higher Normal School in Tokyo, Matsuyama junior high school, the teacher life, such as the fifth high school, to study in 1900 the United Kingdom. After returning home, while taught at First High School, announced the 1905 first book, "I am a cat". 1906 "Botchan" announced "Kusamakura". Resigned from the 1907 teaching, he joined the Asahi Shimbun. And to announce, such as "field poppy", "Sanshiro," but, so suffer from stomach disorder. 1916 December 9, passed away at the gastric ulcer in the middle series of "light and dark". I was 50 years old.
