About Cuori in Movimento

Hearts on the move is the first national application designed to allow cardiopaths to play sports.
Specially designed by sports experts in collaboration with the cardiac surgery department of the Torrette hospital in Ancona, Hearts in Motion is a useful tool for patients who are starting a rehabilitation process or who simply want to enjoy the benefits of physical activity without run the risk of overworking the motor of your circulatory system.
Exercise, in fact, decreases tiredness, improves exercise tolerance, quality of life, circulation, muscles, nerves, brain and allows for a longer life. The benefits of physical activity on the cardiovascular system have allowed a reduction of about 20% in total mortality in patients on therapy.
It provides a series of video tutorials to describe in detail all the phases of the exercises available.
To be able to involve patients of all ages, the application is structured as a layered video game where you can access the next one if and only if you have managed to pass the previous step. In this way, children will be involved in a game in which there is no risk of going to a slightly greater state of effort if they are unable to exceed the current level of exercise.
The benefits are manifold:
The video tutorials are a useful tool to allow patients to practice at home alone or accompanied by parents, without the need to be in the presence of a physiotherapist or osteopath.
Doctors can have a detailed history of patients' execution of the exercises, keeping the improvements (or worsening) under control at a distance, so as to act through medical prescriptions or different exercises.
By combining the data collected with the ability to modulate the user's effort and treatment, many barriers, especially psychological, related to sport can be overcome.
The latter, in fact, turns out to be fundamental for cardiac patients not only in the post-operative phase, but in general throughout their lives: since the heart is a muscle, constant training does nothing but improve its performance.
In addition, the psychological aspect should not be underestimated, especially for patients in the age group between 3 and 18 years. The feelings of anxiety and powerlessness that follow a heart surgery can create significant barriers that must be addressed by increasing self-esteem, emotional stability and contact with peers.
In this direction, sport must be an opportunity to experience sociability and not be excluded, as often happens, for fear of a situation of excessive fatigue that is difficult to manage. Exercise is fundamental from a psycho-physical point of view to grow independently and be able to face your limitations such as the reintegration into active life and the universe of physical activity, fundamental for the patient's psychological balance.
