RTV Zulthe is the nickname of the RTV Zulthe Foundation. Until January 1, 2020, the name was Omroep Westerkwartier. When the broadcaster was founded, the name was Stichting Local Omroep Marum. After the municipalities of Marum and Grootegast decided in 1999 to support the Local Broadcasting for both municipalities, the name was changed to Stichting Local Broadcasting Marum en Grootegast. The Marum Local Broadcasting Foundation was founded on February 2, 1992. In 1999, the statutes of the foundation were adapted to the desire to form a broadcaster for Marum and Grootegast. The new name RTV Zulthe has come after the broadcaster, in addition to the municipality of Westerkwartier, can also serve the municipality of Noordenveld. The name Zulthe comes from the Zulthermeer, the predecessor of the Leekstermeer. The Leekstermeer is the connection between the Noordenveld and the Westerkwartier. With the name Zulthe we want to show as a broadcaster that we have a connecting role.
