Decoding Daniel is a game for adolescents who have a medical condition ("illness") from childhood. If you have such a condition, you have probably been treated by the pediatrician for years. When you become an adult, you will switch from the pediatrician to the adult "doctor."
Growing up is quite exciting. The one finds this more difficult than the other. To be able to stand on your own two feet, you must be able to arrange your own care. We do not expect that you can do this from the first day, but every visit to the doctor a little more.
Your parents / guardians will remain involved during the transfer process. You will, however, do more and more yourself. Step by step you learn more and more to get in control. In the beginning you will probably be confronted with questions and thoughts. What do I have to take care of? How should I arrange that? Can I do this myself?
To make the switch more fun and easier, we have made a toolkit.
A set of cards with assignments, ideas and tips. And an exciting game!
This game is part of a project (the YESS study) and can only be played by people who participate in the YESS study.
