The Sound of Arendal is a project to get permission from the Coastal Administration to restore the fog clock at Store Torungen lighthouse, so that the Arendalites can, on special occasions, hear the sound from the lighthouse again.
Every time a child is born at the hospital in Arendal, the midwife presses a button that starts playing the fog clock at selected locations in the city, as well as in a mobile app.
The project has been created for the Association Torungens Venner, which is working to restore the long-awaited fog clock produced by the lighthouse which disappeared in 1987, when it was no longer a relevant navigation aid.
