Quito 2023 is a feature length thriller / science fiction that focuses on the Ecuadorian capital, several years from now. After several internal political problems, a coup has left the country in the hands of the military. Quito is the last frontier, the city has been completely fenced, gated and guarded. The film begins from this point focuses on only two locations. One, the palace where the General Ponce, cynical and cunning man who runs the party and is in charge of the city, and the second the headquarters of a group of young revolutionaries led by Marcos and Santiago two guys with visions completely different, each hungry for power and strength, the other a computer guy who has lost all hope for a better tomorrow. The film, having no political agenda, is the hours before the revolutionaries to make one last attack with the objective of overthrowing the tyranny that surrounds the city. These two places and characters are woven together to tell a story that is based directly on dialogues rather than in stocks, which can analyze the attitude of each, between ambition, power, humility and faith of those who expect a better future. The result is an analysis that this maybe is just another case of social upheaval in Latin America, where there really is not a solution in a region characterized by high ungovernable and ingenuity of his own people.
