About ETNO re:WITALIZACJE. Łask

The old Jewish cemetery was located in the place that today surrounds Mickiewicza, Górna and Łaska streets. The cemetery was established in the 18th century. It was completely destroyed by the Germans during the occupation during World War II. The occupants took away the tombstones in order to pave the 300-meter long road in the village of Buczek. A market was established on the site of the cemetery. Currently, there is a general secondary school in this area, built in the early 1960s, and the remains of the deceased were exhumed and buried in Jewish cemeteries in Łódź and Podłasz, where a new Jewish cemetery was established at the beginning of the 19th century.
