In 2008, a two-part television movie “Matchmakers” was filmed in Kiev. The project was not planned to be continued, but when it was shown on television, the film received high ratings, and therefore it was extended for the second season (which was also shot in the television movie format), and then for subsequent seasons (shot in the television series format). Their filming was also conducted on the territory of Ukraine (with rare exceptions). At the same time, “Matchmakers 4” was partially filmed in Yalta (Crimea, which at that time - 2010 - was still Ukrainian), as well as in Turkey, that is, exactly in those places where the series takes place this season.
In 2012, the sixth season of the television series was shot, which was supposed to be the last. However, later, at the numerous requests of viewers, the creators of the project decided to remove the sequel. In 2015, the authors announced that the script for the seventh season was ready, but its shooting was postponed due to the political situation in Ukraine, which, in particular, resulted in a ban on Russian actors from entering Ukraine.
In July 2017, filming of the seventh season started, they took place in Belarus and Georgia. However, on November 29, 2017, the series was banned for showing on the territory of Ukraine. Due to the ban, filming of the season was suspended.
In the spring of 2019, by a court decision, the ban on showing the Swat series was canceled and Fedor Dobronravov was allowed to enter Ukraine. In June 2019, the State Cinema of Ukraine banned the screening of the second season of the television series. On July 1, 2019, after a two-year break, the Ukrainian television channel 1 + 1 began a re-show of the series.
On July 12, 2019, the director of the series “Matchmakers” announced that the materials of the 7th season, filmed in 2017, would not be used in the new season of the series. “Matchmakers” will completely replace the concept and the new season will be removed from scratch. Actor series Alexander Feklistov said that the filming of the 7th season of “Matchmakers” will resume from February 3, 2020.
