The legacy and experience of the Ural Society of Natural Science Lovers (UOLE) (1870 –1929), which was headed by Onisim Kler, a member of the Russian Geographical Society. During the entire existence of the Ural Society of Natural Science Amateurs, its ranks consisted of more than 2500 members. The society had broad scientific ties, including outside Russia.
Since 1936 in Sverdlovsk, the training of geographers has been concentrated in the regional pedagogical institute. From the 60s of the twentieth century to 2010 - almost half a century, the Sverdlovsk branch of the Russian Geographical Society was based on the Faculty of Geography and Biology of the Sverdlovsk State Pedagogical University (Institute)
Simultaneously with the formation of the geographical school, the subdivision of the Russian Geographical Society relied on the scientific base of the geographical faculty.
