About Pétanque (Boule)

The rules of this game are the standard rules of Petanque.

This game is primarily a multiplayer game but it is also possible to play it as a single player as a training session.

In multiplayer game mode, first select "Config" -> "Game mode" -> "multiple players". One player should be chosen to be the server player (by clicking the "Create QR code button" on the home page) which causes the app to generate a QR code which the other players (clients) must scan (by clicking the "Scan QR code button on the home page) to connect to the server.

If you want to exit multiplayer game mode, select "Config" -> "Game mode" -> "single player".

Via "Config", on the home page, it is possible to:

- enter the coefficient of friction of the surface of the "terrain" (i.e. the playing area),

- choose the graphic size of the balls,

- choose the speed of the balls (can be used if you have trouble throwing),

- choose whether left- or right-handedness is preferred,

- choose the color of the balls,

- enter how high the ball is above the ground when throwing,

- choose how to visualize the "terrain", standard or perspective,

- enter the player name (only in single player mode),

- enter the team name (only in single player mode),

- choose game mode (single or multiplayer) and

- enter the animation speed factor (higher value -> lower animation speed).

NOTE in multiplayer mode, all players should/must enter the same coefficient of friction of the "terrain".

NOTE that it is only possible to enter player and team names in single player mode. The reason for this is to maintain the consistency of a possibly ongoing multiplayer game.

Press and hold your finger "fingerprint image". The current throwing direction is displayed as a dashed line. When you rotate your phone, the throwing direction changes. When you are satisfied, make a throwing motion and when you lift your finger from the "fingerprint image", your ball is thrown.

During a play you can at any time choose the "Scoreboard" menu option to see the current standings.

When a round is finished all players must choose the "New round" menu option before starting a new round.

When a game is finished all players must choose the "New game" menu option to begin a new game.

If you tap on a ball the id, the player name and the team name associated with the ball is shown together with the distance to the "cochonnet".
