There are few people to whom the word predestination applies with such force as to the Scorpio brothers. Born in Vysoke Mito, one of the many royal cities in Eastern Bohemia, in the family of the couple Vaclav and Anna Škorpilovi. Their mother was the sister of the father of the famous historian Konstantin Irecek.
The Scorpio family had eight sons, five of whom devoted themselves to museum work. One, Vladislav Shkorpil, was director of the Tsarist Museum in Kerch, Russia. A man of science, an excellent archaeologist who knew very well that the Balkan Peninsula was full of as yet unexplored antiquities. It was he who, later in his correspondence with his brothers Hermin and Karel, gave invaluable advice about their work in Bulgaria. The second of the brothers worked at the Pilsen Museum, and the third at the museum of their hometown of Vysoke Mito in the Czech Republic. The other two brothers from the famous family - Hermin and Karel, are the founders of Bulgarian archeology and museum work in the country.
"SHKORPIL BROTHERS - GUARDIANS OF HISTORICAL MEMORY" is an innovative art project, which aims to, through the use of augmented reality and mobile devices, dynamically, accessible and attractive to present and promote unknown and little known facts, documents and photographs related to brothers Karel and Hermin Shkorpil, with their life and scientific activity in Bulgaria.
