Bisa means "to ask" in the Akan language of Ghana. It is a mobile application that allows users with smartphones or other laptops to communicate directly with medical practitioners without being physically present in the hospital. It is an advantage for people who need medical care and advice but who are unable to visit hospitals for various reasons like poverty, long queues at hospitals, fear of stigma, especially with regard to people who have symptoms of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) and who as a result of this feel embarrassed to seek the necessary treatment. Because of these and other reasons, there is a gap in the health care system where some people cannot easily seek medical help when it is needed. However, health care is a fundamental service that everyone must be able to access, and Bisa seeks to address this disparity in access to health care. Bisa was founded in Ghana in 2016 and is currently available in French in Senegal
