The animal shelter is not run by the city, but by the private animal protection association "Tiere in Not e.V. Paderborn". It opened its doors for the first time on June 1st, 1985. The site and the building have been made available to the association by the city of Paderborn. However, the animal protection association bears all the expansion and operating costs of the animal shelter.
We accommodate numerous dogs, cats and small animals. Animals are also housed in private foster homes, which usually do not get along in the animal shelter or need special care. About 350 dogs/500 cats/120 small animals are taken in every year. The animals must be taken care of daily (feed/medication).
The association currently pays more than 10 full-time employees. The daily workload is enormous and can only be managed with difficulty. Voluntary volunteer helpers also support us (cleaning service, nursing homes, patrols, etc.). Structural changes, repairs, etc. must be carried out by the club itself.
We look forward to any help!
