Its green valleys and countless places to explore are the natural prelude to the Huasteca Veracruzana, renowned for its craftsmen recognized and archaeological remains which jealously guards the countryside, this villa offers visitors the magnificence of its historical and cultural past.

A September 30, 1920, the congregation of Tihuatlan becomes free municipality and later an October 1, 1963, the municipal head is elevated to category of Villa, and on October 17 the same year, the people of Tihuatlan , head of the municipality of the same name, received the title of Villa.
In this place there are remains of buildings made of slate, lime and sand mounds and prehispanic Aztec pottery type and Totonacan of last season. Its inhabitants had the Huasteca culture with natural influences from neighboring villages and highland conquerors, as seen in the archaeological zone exists in the vicinity of the road leading to the town of Poza Rica.
