Planet Timer calculates the number of rotations and orbits of solar planets, and the number of orbits of a small number of exoplanets around their parent stars, since the app was first launched.
The app also includes some basic information on the planets that it features.
Thus the app can be started for the first time, and after a look around closed. Then, periodically restarted to see for example, how many rotations of Jupiter have since occurred, or orbits of Wasp 8-b, etcetera.
In order to function, the app automatically saves the time it was first launched to a user’s device storage. This value can be reset within the app, in effect restarting the timer. Uninstalling the app deletes this data.
