This tool summarizes key policies and procedures contributing to the successful performance of uniformed medical and para-medical personnel deploying to Level I medical units in United Nations peace operations. It supplements the core person-centred, trauma-informed UNITAR pre-deployment medical training, and is based on the revised Medical Support Manual for United Nations Field Missions, as well as the forthcoming Filed Medical Care Provider Manual. While not exhaustive, its extensive glossary, interactive decision path, and video demonstrations will serve as a valuable resource in providing critical care in Level I medical units, thereby making UN peace operations both safer and more effective.
