WHOQOL emerged as the result of a Collaborative project of an initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO). With the participation of experts from 15 different cultures, it was possible to build an instrument applicable to various populations, with different sociocultural realities.
The WHOQOL-Bref, or abbreviated version of the WHOQOL, has 26 questions, two of which are related to quality of life and general health perception. The others are arranged in four domains: physical, psychological, social relationships and environment.
