About The Art Newspaper

The Art Newspaper is an online and print publication that covers the international art world. It was founded in 1990 by Umberto Allemandi and Anna Somers Cocks on the original concept of the Italian publication Il Giornale dell'Arte, founded in 1983. The Art Newspaper has offices in London and New York. Its unrivaled news and events coverage is fed by a network of sister editions, which together have more than 50 correspondents working in more than 30 countries, with editorial offices in Paris, Moscow, Shanghai, and Athens. In 2014, Inna Bazhenova became the owner of The Art Newspaper and the licensed network in China, Greece, France, and Russia.

In addition to the news, The Art Newspaper publishes reviews and commentary by leading figures in the art world, including Nicholas Serota, the former director of the Tate, Glenn Lowry, the director of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Michael Govan, the director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Thelma Golden, the director of the Studio Museum, New York, the artists Theaster Gates, Grayson Perry, Elmgreen & Dragset and Shirin Neshat - and many more.

Actual person replied and fixed my problem

I have had a subscription for a little over 6 months and recently couldn’t see anything beyond headline and photo. I wrote to the main email address and had a personal reply explaining the source of recent problem (app update mistake, now fixed) with instructions to solve. I’ll renew just for this. And I love your art coverage!

Functional But...

This mobile app works very well but some improvements could be made. It would help the user to see the art images if they could click on them and zoom in using two fingers, like many other apps use for image content. One thing I noticed that does not work well is, if a user clicks on a category of article headlines to scroll through e.g. "Art Market," then goes back to the main page and tries selecting another category e.g. "Museums and Exhibitions," the app will redirect the user to the first category that they perused, and then not redirect the user to any category on the second attempt to access the new category. The issue is only solvable on user end by force closing the app. One other suggestion - for the digital newspaper section, I'm hesitant to tap the "get" button as I don't know what this entails, even though I would like to access additional content. Plainly, I'm concerned the app will do something funky. A little description at the top of that page as to what happens when you hit the "get" button would be appreciated. Comment functionality from other users would be cool, but I understand this isn't exactly the purpose of a magazine app. Given the state of the Internet, perhaps it's best not to employ this. Good work other than that - thank you and cheers!
