About Positive Peers

Positive peers is a private social media application, exclusively for young people living with HIV to connect with each other and manage health every day. The MetroHealth System’s Compass Services designed this application, in collaboration with Blue Star Design and Blackbird. If you have interest in Positive Peers you can visit the website at positivepeers.org to see if you are eligible by clicking on "Get the app".

To be eligible to join Positive Peers:
• You must confirm that your HIV status is positive.
• You must be between the ages of 13 and 34.
• You need regular access to a smartphone that can run the app.
• You need a current email address for enrollment.

Positive Peers can help you feel connected, informed and more secure in managing your health. The features of Positive Peers are:
• Private chat with other young people living with HIV
• Community forum for ongoing group discussions
• Tales of Triumph, sharing the success stories of other people who are HIV positive
• Health tracker to keep up with your medication, mood and healthy habits
• Informational blogs to learn about HIV and find local resources in the community

Positive Peers is also a research project. Users complete online surveys before enrollment and at different times after using the app. These surveys help MetroHealth make improvements and learn about living with HIV.

MetroHealth manages Positive Peers at all times to keep the app safe, confidential and appropriate for everyone.
