The King James Bible has stood its ground for nearly 400 years. However, during that time the English language has changed. With it has changed the meaning of some words used in the KJV. The dictionary contains over 800 archaic, obscure and hard to understand words and phrases, with over a thousand definitions and examples.
Nave's Topical Bible is a topical concordance of the Bible, and contains Biblical references to over 20,000 topics. Scripture is quoted over 100,000 times; the same Scripture citation may appear under several headings. The topic headings are broad, covering many religious concepts, geographical regions, and names of Biblical figures. While theological concepts such as salvation and worship are included, a wide range of topics, such as Biblical references to ropes, are also included. This reflects the author's intention, as stated in the book's preface, to "...note and classify everything found in the Scriptures".
The Torrey's New Topical Textbook is a reference book or concordance for topics found in the Holy Bible. It contains subject index guides to topics found throughout the scriptures. The work contains 628 entries and over 20,000 scripture references.
Easton's Bible Dictionary contains nearly 4,000 entries relating to the Bible from a 19th-century perspective. Many of the entries in Easton's are encyclopedic in nature, although there are also short dictionary-type entries.
Smith's Bible Dictionary contains over 4,500 subjects and proper names are defined and analyzed with corresponding Scripture references. The dictionary has been used by Bible scholars since its introduction in the 1860's.
Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology shows a name, idea, or theme is developed through Scripture. It connects all Old Testament and New Testament content on more than 700 theological ideas.
