The GeoGarden at the University of Worcester represents 700 million years of Earth History. The rocks of the garden tell a fascinating story of continental collisions, shallow tropical seas, coastal lagoons and sub-tropical swamps, hot deserts, vast ice sheets and polar deserts. The GeoGarden app provides a deeper understanding of this story through the use of extensive graphics and audio as the user explores the rocks. However, you do not need to be in garden in order to fully use the app.
The GeoGarden app provides for three types of user, a 'young geologist' where the content is delivered as if the rocks were speaking to you, the second is the 'curious visitor' we do not assume any prior knowledge of Earth Sciences. The third category is 'geologist' where a more 'serious' approach is taken. You can freely switch between the three, so get more information as you learn.
The app has also been produced to support the outdoor learning space of the GeoGarden, which provides a practical approach to understanding geological heritage and to developing skills in rock, fossil and mineral identification.
