The FARMER'S MARKET introduced emerged from the idea to create a marketing outlet for farmers and producers to sell their own produce directly to consumers. The Farmer's Market as a ‘Meeting ground for Producers and Consumers' has become the main marketing institutions in the Country. The Farmer's Market which has a mobile and carnival-like atmosphere concept with its own identity was launched on 31 January 1985 in Johor Bharu. Some Farmer's Market established are Pasar Tani Mega, Pasar Tani Desaraya, Pasar Tani Borong, Pasar Tani Kekal and Pasar Tani Bunga.
The establishment of the Farmer's Market is hoped to produce more responsive farmers as well as to accelerate the socioeconomic development process of the farming community, in line with the National Agriculture Policy (NAP).
