PiBeacon is an easy-to-use, low-cost, do-it-yourself iBeacon platform. With a tiny, $10 computer called Raspberry Pi Zero W, you can run our ready-made software to quickly create a Bluetooth beacon.
Every Bluetooth beacon constantly broadcasts a unique identifier to nearby devices (such as smartphones). Those devices can then figure out their physical location much more accurately than with location services using GPS, Wi-Fi, and/or cell towers. For example, you could place a beacon in, say, a bedroom and configure it so that when you walk in, your iPhone detects the signal from the beacon and automatically turns on your smart lighting.
This app can be used to configure and manage PiBeacon devices. You can enable or disable beacons, configure actions to be run upon entering or exiting a beacon's signal range, and measure the signal strength of a beacon visually with our innovative augmented reality interface.
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. This app will not work with other Bluetooth beacon platforms. Gerzer is neither affiliated with nor endorsed by Apple or The Raspberry Pi Foundation.
