I’ve been super excited by the possibilities ever since I discovered NaadSadhana. I happened to watch a video where Sandeep Ranade introduces the app and its features. It showed up as a YouTube recommendation and I was instantly intrigued. Once I tried it, I couldn’t be happier. This is exactly what I had been looking for! I primarily use the app as sruthi backing for my whistling. So far, I’ve been using the tanpura and swaramandal extensively. I’m still exploring the percussion instruments. I also use the notes training as often as I can. With whistling, it is very easy to go sharper or flatter than intended, so no amount of practice ever feels excessive. The ear training is extremely helpful and reinforces swara recognition really well for students both old and new. The recording & mixing feature is excellent, the flexibility it offers is impressive. You can custom mix tracks and export clean, raw audio files to use outside the app & this opens up a whole new world of possibilities for creators I am sure. The engineering brilliance & creative intelligence powering the app is remarkable. GeekGayak is probably the absolute best way to describe it :) Kudos to that geekiness. The raaga and taal library in the app is extensive. Based on the style of music you choose, the app also automatically adapts the available instruments, which is a great touch. I do wonder if there might be room for some user-level customization in a future release. I may have missed mentioning a few things (I probably did), but if you’re a music enthusiast at any level, you should definitely give this app a try.

As someone who has barely scratched the surface of what app can do, a few things are nevertheless strikingly apparent: 1 An immense amount of care, thought, and love are being channeled into this app’s ongoing development by a creator with immense knowledge, true artistic sense, and tremendous devotion to the ideal of accompaniment rivaling that of accomplished musicians, available anytime for one’s musical growth. To them: Thank you. 2 The sounds used, interface, range of harmonic and rhythmic options, and depth of Raag availability are clear, clear, and the latter provide for so much digging deep into creative possibilities I can wholeheartedly vouchsafe this app is worth every cent –and I’m not just talking about measurement of musical frequency here 😊 3 If you’re looking for cutting edge accompaniment for musical improvisation over a drone this app delivers in spades. Even those marginally familiar with the ins and outs of Indian classical will find so so much for their growth here. I am amazed and sense a musical renaissance through a new generation of musicians with access to such refined accompaniment twenty-four-seven from a young age... technology like this is part of the future, and make no mistake: NaadSadhana is an outstanding pioneer technology in the service of our creativity... bringing the broadest improvisational tradition the wings of individual freedom and carrying it thereby through our times to the future. Hats off to the creator of NaadSadhana– Your labor’s well appreciated and the love behind it’s shining 🙏
