ASK US ABOUT OUR PILOT PROGRAM FOR SCHOOLS!
The future of reading and playing music starts with a game.
Welcome to version 2.0 !
"I've never seen anything like it. My students love it and are really excited to practice!"
- Ryan H., Band Director-Olinda Elementary
Professional trumpet player, Los Angeles
"The Dallas Winds has used MMR at our summer band camp and the kids loved it. Their reading improved remarkably over just a week.
I spent a long time testing it before we used it and enjoyed it immensely. Good self directed learning. High level of engagement makes you want to get to the next level"
Todd Toney
Director of Education, Dallas Winds

+Video lessons from the pros
+Leader Boards to compete with fiends
+Rhythm generator for infinite practicing options
+Expanding library of books and beats
The Monster Musician Reader, the world's first interactive game that targets and builds the skills necessary for successful music reading. The musician plays her or his instrument or sings directly into the app and gets evaluated on their performance in real-time. Really though, it's just a game. As creator and pro-musician, Noelle Fabian puts it, "Imagine if your sheet music and the video game "Guitar Hero" had a baby. It's epic."
Based on sight reading and language research, specifically designed curriculum familiarizes the player with different rhythmic combinations and intervals. Backing grooves provide the player with a beat while music scrolls across the screen. Great for musical speed-reading. For an extra challenge- pick a tricky key! The goal is to "feed" our friend "Hangry Jim" your right notes as you go. You are then awarded a score from Jim based upon your performance. Don't like your score? Play it again!
The app itself and the first few books are no charge.
Additional books can be purchased in the "music store".
Some basic music knowledge/ability is recommended when starting to play as this is a supplement to other forms of instrumental practice. Using headphones also helps with increased accuracy. While the app can be played by any person or instrument able to sustain a pitch, we currently have the app optimized for woodwinds and brass instruments.
Our current, yet ever-increasing, optimized instrument list:
