simplicity puts this far past others
The top-rated metronome app has been a different one with ads and extra features like a tuner (I have one built in, so this is just UI clutter). I gave it a 1 and a review. Months later still top. That’s not the real crime. The real crime is that this app does only what it needs, does not have ads, and has a well-executed, minimal, intuitive, and simple-but-elegant style. And it’s less than a 5. Something that is everything that is should be is significantly lower rated than an app made by a developer hostile to users. Imagine making something and actually making what you said you made instead of something else. That’s a rare and underappreciated software developer. I could just sing the praises of this app and not attack the others. But I shouldn’t have to praise simplicity. This is not a revelatory app, but it doesn’t have to be. It’s great. Don’t trust App Store ratings. It’s a 5 and if you disagree, I bet you’re the kind of person who downloads browser toolbars…
