Predatory fees! Legalized robbery. Paid to do the cashier's job? Scam!
Absolutely terrible experience. I was forced to use this app at the store in Japan with no other option for Tax Free. The consumption tax is 10%, but this app takes a HUGE commission (almost 30% of the refund amount!) just for processing. I spent over €100 and expected a full refund, but they kept a significant chunk for themselves. It feels like a monopoly and a scam targeting tourists who have no choice. The store saves time, the app makes money, and the customer pays for it all. A complete rip-off 1. High Fees: They took ~30% of my refund as a commission. 2. Zero Convenience: I had to install the app, struggle to photograph 4 different documents (the scanner is buggy), and do all the data entry myself. 3. Still waited in the line: after going all the work I STILL had to stand in a queue for a staff check In other stores I just hand over my passport and it takes 10 seconds . Here I paid a fee to waste 15 minutes doing the store’s paperwork. Avoid!
