About Thru My Eyes Simulator
The Thru My Eyes app is being developed by ProQR Therapeutics as an interactive tool to support inherited retinal disease (IRD) awareness. While the app provides an artist’s impression using different filters, we have calibrated visual acuity (sharpness of vision) to validated scales to be as realistic as possible.
Thru My Eyes is still in its early stages and we plan to continue its development. For now it only provides a simulation of Leber’s congenital amaurosis. We will add more eye diseases to the app in the future.
We hope that this app can be a conversation starter and helpful to educate others about the impact of IRDs on vision.

Limited
I was excited when I heard a blind contributor. He used this app to describe his vision to the side of world, however, after downloading the app, I was very disappointed to find out that it only includes two specific. Inherited retinal diseases and the options provided are very limited. I have a cone rod dystrophy with a cataract with 25% field of vision remaining and 21,000 acuity with no vision in my other eye. There is no way to use this app to demonstrate this low vision condition.

RP
As someone diagnosed with RP, trying to explain how I am partially blind has been difficult. With little effort this app has allowed me to set the camera to what my visual field is, allowing me to share it with my family and friends. Although limited in support for other eye conditions, I would recommend trying this out if you or someone you know has a limited visual field.
