Robin - the smart cane

Smart cane Robin is an intelligent assistive technological device that helps the blind to follow the path of an active and accessible lifestyle with confidence.

Robin is able to recognize objects and people, measure distance to them, memorize people's faces and voice their names, as well as warn the blind about obstacles via vibration alerts. These features allow the user to:

• share household responsibilities with friends and relatives;

• avoid unexpected obstacles;

• find a person nearby and confidently turn to him;

The application Robin is aimed at expanding the functionality of the device and its adjustment to the needs and habits of a blind user. The application can solely be used along the device and is specifically constructed for comfortable use with Voice Over or the whole Accessibility package. With the help of the application, the user will be able to perform the following actions:

• increase the speed and volume of speech reproduction, change the speaker's voice from/ to male or female;

• connect wireless headphones or speakers;

• connect to the Internet;

• upload faces of familiar people from the mobile device gallery.
