FACT
Communicating in different languages at work becomes a little easier with this practical tool. FACT translates between Dutch, French, English, Spanish, Romanian, Polish, Arabic, Dari, Pashtu and Somali, and can also be used as a tool for getting to grips with the language of the workplace. Users select the source and the target languages themselves. For each term in the chosen languages, you’ll find the written word, the spoken version and a supporting image.
The vocabulary packages are developed in conjunction with the VDAB and Forem, and the sectors concerned. Sector-specific terms are structured into logical categories (tools, machinery, parts, maintenance, procedures, etc.) so that users can quickly scroll down to the right word. A search function (with auto-complete) for the different languages is also provided. Users can also set favourites.
The app is an initiative of the West Flanders province and was developed as part of the AB Réfugiés-Emploi project in collaboration with the following partners: POM, VDAB, FOREM, Mission Locale Douaisis, Entreprendre Ensemble, Red Cross Flanders, Fedasil, Ligo Kortrijk-Roeselare, Edu+, Boerenbond and MTech+.
With support from the European Regional Development Fund and from Wallony.
