The TeamMap Public app allows reports from the public to be gathered so that they can be used by full members of the TeamMap team carrying out their tasks using the TeamMap app.
A report is a mechanism for sharing information between the member of the public using the app and a team. A report is automatically time-stamped at the time it is created. A report is automatically location-stamped at the place it is created. A report is displayed on the map at the location it was created using a report icon. A report always contains text information. A report can optionally contain a photograph. A report can have additional text added to it after it is created, either by the creator or someone in the team with the rights to edit reports.
The main interface is a map with a member Icon denoting the location of the member of the public using the app. The map does not display the location of any other members of the team or the location of other members of the public using the app. The map also shows a variable number of report icons denoting the location of team reports. The location of the member of the public is not visible to anyone else, however the location of any reports they submit is visible to all members of the team and other members of the public who are submitting reports into the same team. At the bottom of the screen, a set of time filter controls, allow the reports to be filtered by time period.
The map displays open street map mapping except at Level 18 mapping where satellite imagery is displayed instead. The map can be panned and zoomed using touch controls and zoomed using the two controls in the top right corner of the map. If the option to allow the time filter to adjust the map is selected, the map will automatically adjust to display all the information that has been requested to be displayed. The member Icons and report Icons can be interrogated by a two second press on them.
A new report can be created at the user's current location by a two second press on the member icon, entering the Report details and selecting "Send Report". If there are report close to the member icon then the user will have to choose between viewing one of these reports or submitting a new report.
A new report can also be created at a different location (perhaps where the user was recently, or somewhere the user can see but cannot actually be at), by a two second press at the desired location on the map, entering the report details and selecting "Send Report". This option is only available at zoom level 14 or greater. There is an option after entering the text to add a photograph.
Reports can be viewed with a two second press on the report icon. A pop up display shows more detail and any photograph. The photograph can be enlarged by pressing on it again. Further enlargement is possible by selecting "Zoom". If multiple reports are close together on the map, then a list with reports titles will be displayed, from which the required report can be selected for viewing.
More Information can be added to a report previously submitted by the user, by Viewing it and selecting "Add More" at the bottom left. The user will be asked to enter the additional information as text. There is no minimum number of characters at this stage.
Additional controls allow the map to track the user's location and for the map to be orientated to the ground, as the device is rotated.
