This app has been developed for the students of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering (MERE) subjects at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia. This experience showcases an underground coal mining environment where roadway development is taking place under high coal burst prone conditions. A simulated coal burst is presented and there is an opportunity to observe the aftermath of the event. The second section of the module involves a journey through the contributing factors that can increase the propensity of coal burst in a mining area. These factors are presented as short, explanatory animation videos that describe the stress/strain increases due to various mining and geological factors.
