The Bergen Maritime Museum was established in 1921 by Bergen Rederiforening and Bergen Skipperforening. Their collections formed the core of the museum’s objects. Today’s magnificent building was designed by architech Per Grieg and was completed in 1962. Today, the Bergen Maritime Museum is a branch within Museum Vest, which also presents the history of fishing, the coastal region and war.
