This app serves as the Historically Black Colleges and Universities ( HBCUs) information center. It has all the US HBCUs information, including institution name, type (public/private), 2-year or 4-year institution, US News ranking, state, address, website, phone number, year founded, enrollment, room and board cost, tuition and fees, student-to-faculty ratio, Median starting salary of alumni, and latitude/longitude. All these data are grabbed from online (like Dept. of Education, USNews college ranking, etc.) and stored in our server that can be modified easily. The data will be updated accordingly.
The app has three tabs: “HBCUs Map”, “HBCUs List”, and “About HBCUs”
The “HBCUs Map” tab allows users to search/sort the HBCUs with various parameters (such as ranking, enrollment, state, …….) and mark the resulted HBCUs on map. Tapping the map marker shows the detailed data of that institution. So you can easily see the HBCU geographical distribution.
The “HBCUs List” tab allows users to search/sort the HBCUs with various parameters (such as ranking, enrollment, …….) and list the search results in a table view. Tapping the item in the table provides detailed data.
The app also has a “Do You Know?” function that randomly displays some HBCUs fast facts, like which HBCU is the oldest one?
