Surgical-site infection is a potential complication of many vascular procedures, but in many cases, it is preventable with the proper precautions (1). However, those precautions may make procedures more expensive in terms of both time and money, and such additional measures may not be justified for all patients. After analysis of both past studies and reviewing more recent patient data, we propose a novel algorithm to predict which patients are at the highest risk for surgical infection. We have also developed a mobile application to allow surgeons to rapidly determine a given patient's postsurgical infection risk.
