Hirz App is all about preserving the different modes of Qu'ran recitation, all linked to the Prophet.
You will be able to listen to free and premium audio contents. The premium version will be available soon in shaa Allaah.
The Qur’an was revealed upon 7 different modes (ahruf). During the khilafah of Uthman Ibn Affan, Muslims of Iraq denied the recitation of those from Ash Sham and vice versa. They denial took place during the battle of Irminiyyah – just because they were not familiar with the recitation of each other.
Uthman ibn Affan then brought them together and collected the manuscripts into one, called al-Umm. He instructed the Sahabah to compile each Qira’ah. He then sent a copy of each to Kufa, Bahrain, Makkah, Iraq, Sham, along with a companion to teach the new Muslims. He kept a copy in Madinah.
Uthman ibn Affan wanted to ensure that Muslims would not deny the revelation of the Qur’an just because they were not familiar with all its modes of recitation.
The companions were present when the Qur’an was being revealed, so they could read the different Qira’at. That was how the problem was solved.
We have started having the same issue, but there is no khalifah to bring us together. Al Hirz Institute is therefore attempting to bridge the gap, with the permission of Allaah, by recording all the 20 Riwayat that are linked to the Prophet. We pray for Allaah to put barakah in this work.
