About Miller Avenue Church

We are your "Church for Those without a Church"!

Small but mightily engaged for His Kingdom in an array of ministries, including preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to unbelievers and teaching the Scriptures to believers! Our worship is easy liturgical, and our theology is evangelical and reformed, aligned with both American and Southern Baptists. Our home church is located in the quiet suburban town of Mill Valley, near the Golden Gate Bridge to San Francisco. Our surroundings are a real mission field, since our county has a tiny Christian minority, leaning more toward American style Eastern religion and toward contemporary occultism. Find out more at milleravenuechurch.org. Join us for an array of offerings . . .

Our Senior Pastor since 1984 is Kent Philpott, MDiv, DMin. He is well-known for his years of street preaching in the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco and deliverance ministry during the late 1960s into the 1970s, an era dubbed The Jesus People Movement. He was the first senior pastor of Church of the Open Door in San Rafael, CA, and also ran the Christian Counseling Center there, starting Love in Action, a ministry to Christian homosexuals seeking to leave that lifestyle. Kent is a prolific author, writing on subjects such as basic Christian theology, true and false conversion, demonology and deliverance ministry, the dangers of The New Apostolic Reformation, understanding and confronting Islam, the biblical perspective on homosexuality and transgenderism, the connections between the occult, shamanistic religion, and modern extremes in Pentecostalism, his personal memoir, and help for pastors, among others.
Also in the pulpit are son, Vernon, and wife, Katie. They are joined by several others who contribute their biblical study and insights during the year. Sermons and Bible expositions from all of these preachers and teachers are recorded for your watching or listening pleasure.
