This app uses ST25 NFC tags by ST for product authentication. Recommended for brand owners and manufacturers who are fighting off fakes!
The product authentication service combines a UID cloud look-up service with the TruST25 digital signature to assure your customers that their product is genuine.
Use your iPhone to scan product authentication tags (produced by Tagstand and based on the ST25 NFC chips) to verify its digital signature. The app connects to a live cloud UID lookup service. Use the "allow" feature to update a UID from "Deny" to "Allow" on the database.
About Digital Signatures:
The TruST25 digital signature ensures the authenticity of ST25TV512 and ST25TV02K NFC chips. Successful verification of the signature means the chip is issued by STMicroelectronics and not a malicious issuer. For product authentication, checking the digital signature is one step in the “cascade of trust.” It prevents the use of counterfeit non-ST issued chips.
About UID
All NFC chips have a permanent, non-changeable unique ID (UID) that is written by the silicon manufacturer. For product authentication, a tag’s chip UID is compared to a list of allowed UIDs as a step in the “cascade of trust”. If the UID does not exist on the list, then the product is a counterfeit. The ST25TV512 and ST25TV02K chips have 8 byte UIDs.
