Boston Avenue UMC is a historic church located in the heart of downtown Tulsa. While our nationally recognized building (one of the finest examples of ecclesiastical art deco architecture!) may be intimidating, our people are warm and kind, and committed to welcoming all!
Our core values at Boston Avenue can be remembered with the acronym ASCENDS. Our church community:
Affirms everyone is a beloved child of God.
Sees spiritual growth as a lifelong journey.
Cultivates music, architecture, and the arts as a means of
experiencing God.
Embraces a reasoned approach to faith and scripture.
Nurtures our congregation to be ambassadors for reconciliation.
Develops mission partnerships as Christ's love in action.
Strives for excellence in service to God.
We hope you’ll join us for worship, or any of our numerous programs or activities! Our ministries invite you to think deeply, grow spiritually, and love generously.
Think deeply….
God blessed us with the ability to think for ourselves. We honor this gift by questioning, studying, and exploring His Word and the world he gave us. John Wesley, founder of Methodism and an Oxford professor, advised all Christians to "think and let think."
Grow spiritually…
Our church supports spiritual growth - growing closer to God - through small groups, workshops, retreats, trips, and spiritual study for all ages. Our music ministries, including choirs, bell choirs, and ensembles for all ages, offer another avenue for spiritual growth.
Love generously…
For the last 126 years, we have faithfully served both the Tulsa community and around the world. At Boston Avenue, you'll find many opportunities to volunteer, engage in missions, serve others, and love your neighbor in Christ.
