Calico Ghost Town Calico was founded in 1881 and reached a population of 1,200, with 22 saloons and multiple bordellos to cater to the largely male population. I am not aware of any ATV Jamborees there, it would be a great place to have one. There are trails up the mountain and a few mines to see up there. The Borax and Silver miles played out years ago. The Calico Ghost Town on Calico Road/Ghost Town Road, a U shaped road from Interstate 15 up to the ghost town and back down to Interstate 15 is not to be missed.
The App has the Trails, and Points of Interest for you to see. It also has a Back Track feature, if turned on, will lay a Gray Trail behind you as you travel, so that you can use that to find your way back to where you came in. This saves the local authorities from having to make as many rescues, which helps their budget, and keeps users on the trails instead of making new ones.
There is one hotel in Yermo, and too many to mention in Barstow. Peggy Sue's Restaurant is a 50's style full service restaurant that has to be visited, and has a pizza parlor at the rear. There are Gas Stations at both ends of Calico Road.
