Signboards, billboards, as well as various media outlets use the Khmer language in writing and presentation.
Some of them have a lot of semantic and spelling errors. Statistical research shown that about 25 percent of signboards and billboards have these errors. Particularly, the media also has a lot of misspellings.
Misspellings have had detrimental effects on the usage and learning of the Khmer language, especially for children and students, which need to be re-adjusted.
The purpose of this application is:
• To correct errors that occur through visual reporting of the general public
• To public skepticism and some ambiguity in the spelling will be eliminated, both on the signboards and; especially, in the media such as on television.
The provision of information to the National Council of Khmer Language, together with the cooperation of the relevant ministries and institutions, can be achieved by notifying the signboard’s owners and the publishers, as well as the authorities, to take appropriate measures for correction.
