Smart loading and delivery zones (SmaLa) in Hamburg
-- How can delivery and loading zones in Hamburg be used more efficiently?
The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg wants to test this in the "SmaLa" living laboratory with a virtual booking system for delivery and loading zones. To this end, four loading zones will initially be set up in the Hamburg-Mitte district as smart model loading zones.
Using this SmaLa app, suitable, free loading zones can be found and reserved. A loading zone can be selected via the booking view of the app and the booking can be confirmed after entering further required information about the booking process. The bookings made are displayed with the relevant data on a dynamic traffic sign at the respective loading zone.
The app is free. As a non-registered user, the app can be used with little functionality. The reservation of loading zones is only possible for KEP service providers. The registration and activation of the full functionality for reserving the loading zones is done with a registration code, which can be requested from the project team (smala[at]bwi.hamburg.de).
-- SmaLa is Germany's first control method to reduce competition for space through a virtual booking system for delivery zones
The Smart Delivery and Loading Zones project is a digitization project for the transport infrastructure in the area of last-mile logistics of the Ministry of Economics and Innovation (BWI). The digitally supported delivery zone management enables registered users to book a delivery zone in advance at the required time using a smartphone application.
The project was initiated against the background of the current and still expected increase in online trade and the associated effects on delivery traffic, new concepts for urban commercial traffic are being developed and efforts are being made to handle delivery traffic in cities in an environmentally and traffic-friendly manner.
The traffic load caused by delivery vehicles parked in the second row and hindering the flow of traffic is a major problem. Thanks to the smart charging zones and this SmaLa app, registered users should be able to book a delivery zone in advance and ensure charging capacities in the desired time periods. This should reduce search traffic, parking in the second row, and environmental pollution (NOX and CO2) and increase traffic safety.
