This interactive navigation app, designed and provided by the Institute for Art in Public Space Styria (KiöR), enables you to discover art and culture in public space in Styria.
On a map or a list view it shows you freely accessible artistic works, sculptures in the Austrian Sculpture Park south of Graz and historical memorials from 1945 onwards.
You can also take predetermined tours of artworks or create your own tours, mark your favorite objects as favorites, search for works and artists, and suggest artworks for the app yourself.
This Is What the App Shows You:
- The artworks featured in the app (category “Art in Public Space”) are works initiated or accompanied by KiöR, as well as works created independently of the institute from 1945 onwards by a variety of artists. You can also find the birth and death dates and biographies of the artists.
- The “Signs of Remembrance” include monuments, memorials and commemorative plaques that visualize how a society deals with its history, respectively, past – in this case, with the era of Austro-Fascism and National Socialism – in public space.
- The more than 75 sculptures in the Austrian Sculpture Park (category “Sculpture Park”) were also integrated into the app, making it an ideal guide for this publicly accessible recreational oasis south of Graz.
- In “...and others” you will find objects that move between the categories, e.g., graffiti, street art or artistic designs that are worth discovering in public spaces.
- The constant further development and extension of the app is a crucial element. Therefore, the app not only contains entries compiled by the Institute for Art in Public Space Styria (KiöR), but also invites you to upload your own contributions. These suggestions are either included by KiöR in one of the existing categories or can be found under “User Contributions.”
