A Day in the Life of Shoujaa is a mobile game that is best played on site at the Mseilha fort in the north of Lebanon. The game's historical components are portrayed digitally through buildings, events, and mainly through the words of Shoujaa. The Mseilha castle and the mills are shown in the game, the interior architecture of the castle is found too. Some other buildings are found to represent the respective game. The game requires the players to walk around the site finding and scanning QR codes which activate different mini games. In total, there are 9 QR codes corresponding to games that allow the user through a gamified experience to learn how people of the Middle Ages in Lebanon used to live.
The player will first have to complete a set of minigames that represent several daily chores (growing wheat, chopping woods, baking bread, and forging a sword). Afterwards when the player enters the castle, shocking events happen leading to a sparring game, army strategizing, and shooting arrows through the window slits. During every minigame and even on the way to each game’s QR signs, Shoujaa will be supplying the user with historical information. As a result, the player will learn about the history of the place while enjoying a gamified experience.
